If there is one thing I value about my work, it is a pleasant atmosphere. When people enjoy working together, that positive feeling also reaches clients and, in our case, journalists.
I think it is important to contribute actively to that atmosphere. You often build the strongest bonds with colleagues when you are not working, or when you give someone a little extra attention at work through a compliment. An added benefit is that stronger relationships help you perform better as a team.
You may think all of this sounds obvious. Yet I still hear about many businesses doing too little to create a positive atmosphere. That is why I put together the tips below with colleagues from Progress Communications and Eventive. Print them out and put them up somewhere. Who knows? You may reap the rewards straight away when a colleague brings a delicious apple pie to work tomorrow.
